We want children to feel comfortable using Chinese: speaking it, reading it and putting their own words on paper.
Our school
Mosaic Connection runs weekend Mandarin classes in Brisbane's western suburbs. We teach at St Peters Lutheran College in Indooroopilly and Centenary State High School in Jindalee, for children aged 4 to 18.
How we teach
Lessons bring together listening, speaking, reading and writing. Stories, cultural activities and writing practice help children use what they learn. Class placement takes both age and existing Mandarin into account.
What matters in class
Clear teaching
Children need clear explanations and time to practise before moving on.
Feeling welcome
Families don't need to speak Chinese at home to join us. Beginners have a place here too.
A connection to culture
Learning Chinese is also a chance to explore the stories, traditions and everyday life behind the words.
Steady progress
Learning a language takes practice. We value the small steps: a new word, a conversation, a character written independently.
